The answer, tradition! One of the most common questions / comments from our customers is "Why would I need 2 envelopes? My guests just throw it away!"
You spend a great deal of time selecting, designing and making your own invitations. The invitations to your special event are finally completed, you are thrilled and can not wait to send them in the mail. You have even put a few aside as a keepsake for years to come. You want your recipients to love them as much as you do, and hopefully keep them for the memories.
One of the best ways to make certain your guests receive their invitations in tack is to use double envelopes. Quite simply, you place the contents of your invitation ensemble (invitation, response cards, response envelopes etc) into the inner envelope. Traditionally the inner envelope is ungummed and oftentimes lined in your choice of colored or pattern papers that complement your invitation. The inner envelope is addressed to your guests and protects your invitation ensemble. You take this inner envelope package and place it inside the outer envelope for mailing.
Your guests receive the invitation in the mail. In their excitement to see where they have been invited they tear open the seal of the envelope! But all is fine; your invitations have been preserved in the inner envelope.
