We have recently added large format handmade paper to our Artisan & Handmade Paper Collection. These soft papers, sold by the sheet, measure 19.68 x 25.59 inches (50cm x 65cm) and have a natural deckled edge on all four sides. Handmade papers are useful for various arts & crafts, including watercolor, printmaking, drawing, and pastel, but are also delightfully suitable for making outstanding invitations.

The traditional method used to make these handmade papers are what give them their unique texture. The fibers of natural grown cotton are cut, refined, and pulverized into a soft pulp. The individual sheets are moulded from this pulp and air dried, giving them a one-of-a-kind surface texture and volume. This age-old process yields a paper that is perfect for giving your wedding programs and invitations a natural, homely feel that is pleasantly distinguished.

Interested in making your own envelope liners? LCI now carries Envelope Liner Templates for doing just that. Use them to add some flashiness to your invitation envelopes with any kind of colored or patterned paper. It's fun and easy! Follow our steps below to learn how to do it at home.

Steps for lining an envelope:

1. Holding template securely on desired lining paper, cut around it with a craft knife. (If it is a patterned paper, make sure that the pattern side is up so you can see which part of the pattern will appear.)

   
   

2. Apply glue stick to the lower section of the liner on the unpatterned side. Slide the liner into the envelope, center the top edge of the liner just below the envelope glue strip. Press in place.
3. After you have centered the liner, lightly fold over the flap section and apply glue stick to the unglued flap area of the envelope.
4. To chase out any air bubbles, smooth the length of the bone folder across the lining flap - pushing outwards.
5. To make a crisp crease, use the point of the bone folder guided by a ruler to draw a crease-line along the fold-line of the envelope. Fold along your crease, and then reinforce your final fold by smoothing along the crease with the length of the bone folder.
