Years ago, the traditional method of planning your event came with very specific do's and don'ts. The options for wording on invitations were limited and hand set script fonts were a must. Wedding invitations required double invitation envelopes & tissues. Papers were cream and inks were black.
Years ago, your receptions would be in a catered hall. You would have a five piece band, offer a sit-down meal of chicken and salmon. The evenings events were scripted.
Times have changed. No longer do you need to adhere to these age old traditions. Be creative and make your event special, unique and yours! There are no hard and fast rules that you must adhere to, so go ahead and use colored papers, casual text and creative fonts. Plan your affair with a theme that interests you. Just recently I read an article in the Wall Street journal that there is a growing interest in hosting events at the horse track.
