Your wedding invitation is one of the most important things you select for your big day. Not only does it give people the important logistical information they will need to attend, but it also sets the tone for your event and tells guests what to expect. So, if you are hosting a Saturday evening black-tie reception, you may want to select a very elegant invitation on heavy, textured paper stock that has the rich feel you would like your wedding day to convey. On the other hand, if you plan to get married barefoot on the beach, a more casual invitation accented with shells, waves, pails or other items reminiscent of the beach can be a great choice. Think about selecting papers in cool, ocean tones or using vibrant colors to get a summery feel. For a garden wedding, incorporating a flower design or petals into the invitation will help set the stage. One bride I know who was planning her wedding in her parents’ backyard garden even included a packet of flower seeds in the invitations with a special note to guests to plant the seeds in honor of her upcoming marriage. She carried through on this theme on her wedding day by using simple pots with colorful flowers as her centerpieces. Remember that no matter what type of wedding you plan, your invitations are a great way to add your own unique flair and give guests a glimpse right from the beginning into what you have planned.
