Aye, aye . . . I mean . . . I do. With the recent success of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, the newly betrothed are deciding to give a pirate spin to their festivities. And why not? Weddings have everything a good pirate would desire: booze, women, romance, and a raucous good time. Okay, maybe I'm too reminiscent of the Errol Flynn years, but, regardless, here are some pirate theme tips to make your parlay . . . I mean, wedding . . . into a high seas sailing time that no one will forget.
Treasure map invitations will set the tone, giving people a real idea of what your wedding reception is about. The "X" maybe your town, house, or wedding/reception site with mythical beasts patrolling the waters. LCI Paper provides a selection of earth toned papers to simulate the wear on an ancient map.
Writing a letter of pirate delegation is another possibility for invitations. LCI Paper provides colorful parchments and faux wax seals to aid in this venture.
Other ideas include:
- A bar featuring rum based drinks (i.e. mojito, Bahama mama, etc.)
- Eye patch place holders
- Treasure chest centerpieces
- A crow's nest at the entrance of the reception hall
- Seafood menu
- Message in a bottle invitations
As you sail off into the sunset together, I hope your pirate theme wedding will be remembered forever.
